Frasers Property announce signing of Event Cinemas at Ed.Square

Sydney’s southwest will be home to a new entertainment hub, with the signing of Event Cinemas at Ed.Square in Edmondson Park.

Frasers Property Australia, the developer behind the project, today confirmed the cinema operator will be an anchor tenant in the new Ed.Square Town Centre.

Stage One of the town centre, which includes the new Event Cinemas, a Coles supermarket and a Liquorland store, is set to open in the second half of 2020.

It will comprise 90 shops integrated with a 68m residential tower atop the town centre.

Frasers Property executive general manager of retail Peri Macdonald said Event Cinemas brought “another dimension to the Ed.Square experience” and will be a major drawcard for locals and visitors from across western Sydney.

“Our vision for the Ed.Square Town Centre has always been to create a place for people not just to shop, but to spend time, socialise and enjoy experiences together,” he said.

“To attract a quality cinema operator is at the heart of this vision and we’re thrilled to have Event Cinemas on board.”

Event Cinemas general manager of entertainment Luke Mackey said he looked forward to revealing the “groundbreaking new site” to the community.

“Event Cinemas at Ed.Square will be one of the world’s best cinemas, setting a new global benchmark in comfort, design and entertainment experience.”

Stage One of the town centre includes 25,000 sqm of retail space — 30 per cent of which has been secured with leases.

Located next to Edmondson Park railway station, Ed.Square will be a new urban centre with a mix of housing styles including 992 apartments and 890 terraces and townhouses, a 68m residential tower and more than 6ha of open space.
