A healthcare worker at Liverpool Hospital is one of three new COVID-19 cases confirmed across NSW in the last 24-hour reporting period.
NSW Health said the staff member had been identified as a close contact of a previous case and was in self-isolation during their infectious period.
Another case was a student of Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta who had also been identified as a close contact of a previously reported case.
They, too, were in self-isolation for their infectious period.
The third case was acquired overseas and is hotel quarantine.
Health authorities said while case numbers remain low, anyone with even the mildest of symptoms should get tested for coronavirus.
“It is vital that high rates of testing continue in order to find the source of the cases still under investigation and to identify and stop further spread of the virus,” a NSW Health spokeswoman said.
Just over 10,000 tests were conducted in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday, compared with 20,720 in the previous 24 hours.
Some 84 cases are being treated by NSW Health and there are seven COVID-19 patients in intensive care.
