The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sydney’s southwest can now be revealed for the first time by postcode.
Fresh figures released by the NSW Government show the number of confirmed cases based on the location where an individual lives.
The first case registered in Sydney’s southwest was in Fairfield on March 1 in the 2163 postcode, which includes the suburbs of Carramar, Lansdowne and Villawood.
Postcodes with the highest number of cases include 2200 — covering Mt Lewis, Bankstown, Bankstown North, Condell Park — with nine cases, and 2199 where 10 people have been diagnosed.
Suburbs that fall in the 2199 postcode include Yagoona and Yagoona West.
Canterbury-Bankstown has emerged as a hotspot for the infection in the southwest, recording 74 cases as of Wednesday 8pm.
In Liverpool, the majority of cases have been recorded in the 2170 postcode — an area that encompasses Liverpool, Liverpool South, Lurnea, Casula, Moorebank, Mt Pritchard, Prestons, Warwick Farm, Hammondville and Chipping Norton — with 16 cases documented.
A further 11 infections were confirmed in 2171, which covers a large part of the new release district comprising West Hoxton, Middleton Grange, Len Waters Estate, Hoxton Park, Horningsea Park, Elizabeth Hills, Cecil Hills and Carnes Hill.
Four cases have been recorded in 2168 while the 2172 and 2173 postcodes have each registered one.
Thirty-three people in Liverpool have now been diagnosed with COVID-19 as of Wednesday 8pm.
In Fairfield, the highest number of infections was recorded in 2176, where six cases are known.
The postcode takes in the suburbs of Wakeley, Prairiewood, St Johns Park, Edensor Park, Greenfield Park, Abbotsbury and Bossley Park.
It was closely followed by 2164 — comprising Smithfield, Smithfield West, Wetherill Park and Woodpark — where there are four cases, and three in 2163.
The South Western Sydney Local Health District has opened specialised clinics in Bankstown-Lidcombe, Bowral and District, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Liverpool hospitals to test patients for COVID-19 infections.
