A nurse was left “shocked” after she sparked a frantic police pursuit while speeding 60km over the speed limit while only on her learner’s licence for nine months.

Brooke Anne Ross, 21, pleaded guilty to police pursuit and exceeding speed more than 45 km at Liverpool Court on Wednesday after she was caught driving her motorcycle along Moorebank Ave, Holsworthy on November 15.

Agreed facts state Ross was clocked speeding between 111km/h and 109km/h in a 60km zone and overtook five vehicles while driving through a traffic island after police activated their sirens.

“Ross continued in a southerly direction overtaking a number of other vehicles while travelling at no less than 110km … and failed to keep to the right side of the road.”

“She overtook further vehicles after the low level bridge and increased her speed to not less than 130km/h and not more than 140km/h in the sign posted 60km/h zone,” the facts state.

The police pursuit ended after Ross veered into a dead end road at the rear of Glenfield train station where officers found her on the ground level of the commuter car park before taking her to Liverpool police station.

“Ross overtook approximately 30 vehicles during the pursuit … and endangered the members of the public that she overtook with the potential to cause multiple collisions,” the facts state.

Ross’s lawyer said his client had committed a “serious offence” and had a “stern conversation” with her mother who supported her in court.

“She doesn’t shy away from the conduct, she accepts responsibility,” he said.

He said Ross claimed she “panicked” when police activated their sirens and drove into the dead end because she was “shocked” and had to “reflect on what happened”.

Magistrate Andrew Miller questioned why Brooke decided to speed because “as a nurse” she is aware of how deadly speeding can be.

“Working in a nursing environment, the first thing they’ll see is the nature of the injuries from speeding,” he said.

Mr Miller adjourned the matter for February 7 at Liverpool Local Court.
