Plans for a series of swanky new laneways bustling with a range of dining and retail options at the base of what is soon-to-become Sydney’s tallest commercial tower, which is rising one floor every four days, have been revealed.
Lendlease have given lovers of retail therapy and good food a first glimpse at its vision for the $1.9 billion Sydney Place development at 180 George St, Sydney — also promising a major public square for the CBD commercial precinct.
Planners for the mammoth project gifted half of the Sydney Place site, previously the home of office blocks, to be returned to the public with a revamped public square.
Lendlease head of development, Jeheon Son said the project would “form a major piece of the revitalisation of the Circular Quay precinct”
“We’re excited to be bringing our global expertise in placemaking to create a thriving new
community for this rapidly evolving part of the city.”
While Lendlease NSW general manager Sandra Perosh said more than 1 million hours of work has already gone into the build of the tower, despite the looming threat of COVID-19.
Jobs Minister, Stuart Ayres said the project was a revitalisation kick-starter designed to “help bring the CBD back better than ever for workers and visitors”.
“What makes this project especially great for NSW is the thousands of jobs and opportunities for local businesses and apprentices are being created right now,” he said.
