Mr Bonser’s lawyer told the court his alleged involvement in the matter was minimal.
“He did not enter cars or houses. He was not present in any of the break and enters but was rather carting people around,” he said.
The sole carer and father of three became visibly upset as it became apparent that his release application would not be successful.
“My boys...my boys...,” he repeated as the decision was made.
“Other arrangements can be made for the children,” said the judge as he passed down his decision.
His matter was adjourned to the same court on a later date.
The 16 year-old was due to face a children’s court on Thursday.
A 17-year-old male from Penrith was also charged with two counts of assaulting an officer in execution of duty.
