SOMETHING supercalifragilisticexpialidocious has arrived at the Grounds of Alexandria.
The snow-capped trees and glistening snowflakes are gone and the wind of change has blown through.
Inspired by the return of Disney’s Mary Poppins, the Grounds has lined its laneway with cherry trees.
Brand manager Dan Mylonas said the story of Mary Poppins resonated with the inner child in all of us.
“We wanted to bring to life that same sense of magic and wonder for our guests to share in, so we created our own interpretation of the experience with Cherry Tree Lane,” Mr Mylonas said.
Lined with blossoming cherry trees and English lamp posts, the installation is inspired by the street the Banks’ family lives on.
Mr Mylonas said there are also a few nods to iconic symbols from the film, including kites and Mary Poppins’ signature carpetbag.
“Guests are welcome to pull up a seat on the park bench and take photos,” he said. “To add a little extra magic, every day until Sunday February 3, there will be bubbles falling through the Cherry Tree Laneway.”
The talented chefs at The Grounds cafe have also created a special cake.
“The flavour is something a little unexpected; a lemon zest sponge and cherry puree and cream cheese centre, finished with ombre blue buttercream, fondant clouds and a kite cookie,” Mr Mylonas said.
