Weekley Park, Stanmore: Alleged sex act arrest near St Michael’s school

Parents and primary children allegedly got a shock at Monday morning drop-off after a man and woman performed a sex act just metres from a school.

A man and woman will face court after they allegedly performed a sexual act near a primary school during the morning drop-off on Monday.

About 8.30am police were called after the pair was allegedly seen publicly performing the act at Weekley Park, in Stanmore.

The park is within metres of both St Michael Archangel Catholic School and St Michael’s Catholic Primary School.

At the time, a number of parents and children were in or near the park as school was starting.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command attended and arrested a 39-year-old man and 31-year-old woman.

The man was also allegedly found with methamphetamines and cannabis after being searched by police.

The pair was taken to Newtown Police Station.

The man was charged with wilful and obscene behaviour, offensive conduct and possess prohibited drugs. He was granted bail, to appear at Newtown Local Court on February 24.

The woman was charged with offensive behaviour and granted bail, to appear at Newtown Local Court on March 12.
