Two men were attacked in separate incidents at Sydney Park late Saturday night and suffered facial injuries.

A police spokesman said at about 11pm, a 21-year-old man who was with his friends was approached by two men asking for cigarettes and beer. He was then punched from behind, causing his teeth to break. The man and his friends ran away but were chased by the men who caught up to them. They continued to assault the 21-year-old before they took his phone and fled.

The victim’s friends took him to Royal Prince Alfred hospital for treatment.

Half an hour later at 11.30pm, a 28-year-old man was walking through the same park when a man demanded money from him. After refusing to hand over the money he was punched in the face. He ran away and saw four other men running towards him, so he ran to the Princes Highway and the men stopped chasing him, according to police.
