What’s happening in your area: A major drug bust in Lilyfield, a teenager has been stabbed and a woman has been charged after she threw a chair at her partner.

BALMAIN

Police have charged a man and a woman following investigations into the alleged stabbing of a teenager in Balmain last week. Emergency services were called to a Woolworths carpark on Darling St about 6.50pm on Wednesday after reports a 16-year-old boy had been stabbed. The teenager was assessed at the scene and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he underwent surgery.

A crime scene was established at the carpark and on Saturday, police arrested a 29-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman at a home on Foy St, Balmain. The man was taken to Newtown Police Station and was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder; reckless grievous bodily harm; and reckless wounding (x2). The woman was taken to Day Street Police Station where she was charged with conceal serious indictable offence.

LILYFIELD

STRIKE Force detectives and the Tactical Operation Unit arrested and charged three men at a carpark in Lilyfield last Wednesday during a major drug bust. The men, aged 18, 36 and 38 were taken to Newtown Police Station. Investigators seized more than $500,000 worth of cocaine, six grams of ice and a gram of cannabis during a search of their vehicles. Strike force detectives and the Public Order and Riot Squad executed search warrants at a home at Ermington and a storage facility at Gladesville. Police seized 100g of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, mobile phones and clothing.

REDFERN RES

STRIKE Force Grassy, led by the Redfern Region Enforcement Squad dismantled a criminal group and charged five people in relation to over 2200 cannabis plants last week with a street value of over $6.2 million. Police executed 19 search warrants across Sydney including Strathfield and Greenacre on Wednesday. Four men and one woman were arrested. Police allege more than 2200 cannabis plants were seized, cannabis leaf and fraudulent documentation. A 21-year-old man was arrested at the Strathfield property. He was charged with two counts of cultivation and participate in criminal group. He was refused bail and will appear at Bankstown Local Court on September 5.

PETERSHAM
A WOMAN has been arrested in her Petersham unit after she threw a chair at her partner on Sunday morning.
Police and Ambulance were called to the unit on Albert St at around 5am after reports a domestic argument began between a couple.
The man sustained a serious eye injury and was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for further treatment.
The woman, 27 was arrested at the scene and was taken to Newtown Police Station.

A new safety campaign, which originated two years ago in Lincolnshire, England, was rolled out in Sydney’s CBD pubs, clubs and bars on the weekend. When a patron “Asks for Angela” at a participating venue, the codeword triggers a response from trained staff who will discreetly escort that person to safety or contact authorities. Police Minister Troy Grant said with the increasing popularity of online dating apps, many people were meeting for dates at bars, clubs and pubs having never met, beyond the screens of their phone or computer, and this initiative supported their safety. Central Metropolitan Region Police Commander Mark Walton said if one of the parties felt uncomfortable or the encounter started to take on a darker tone, that person could approach staff and “Ask for Angela”. He said still call 000 in an emergency
