Commuters and motorists should prepare for traffic delays as Transport NSW releases warning for commuters over major maintenance and project works.
Up to five lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge will close for maintenance and upgrade which will see two northbound and two southbound lanes open from 11pm – 6am on February 23, four northbound and one southbound lane open from 11pm -7am on February 24, two northbound and one southbound lane open from 10pm – 4.30am on the 26th and lane closure from the 27th to the 29th of February.
Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or use the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route during these times.
Commuters travelling through Leichhardt are also being warned to expect delays from February 28 on Parramatta Rd and Crystal St, as work continues on upgrades of the traffic signals.
Motorists should also expect major delays around Sydney Olympic Park as Taylor Swift is set to electrify around 300,000 fans across four nights when her blockbuster Eras Tour comes to Sydney from February 23-26.
A further 15,000 event-goers are set to descend on the precinct on Friday and Saturday for the Blink-182 concerts.
Transport for NSW advises public transport is the best way to get to and from the events with more than 1,200 additional trains and buses running across the four days.
Thousands of partygoers will also head to Bondi Beach on Saturday for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian mardi gras Bondi Beach Party – from 2pm to 10pm.
Special event clearway restrictions will be in effect on roads approaching and around the beach, so drivers should check signs to avoid being towed, and expect traffic to be heavier than usual in the area.
Public transport users should also be advised with extra buses running between the city, Bondi Junction and Bondi Beach.
Passengers are being urged to plan ahead this weekend as essential trackwork targets key sections of the network to improve resilience and reliability.
Buses will replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong on the South Coast line, and between Newcastle Interchange and Wyong on The Central Coast & Newcastle line.
