The SES have predicted minor flood levels of 1.3m tonight, which could force Holbeach Ave, Bay St, Old St and Young St in Tempe to close.
Illawarra Rd, Wharf St and Riverside Cres in Marrickville and low lying areas such as parks and open spaces could also be affected by floodwaters.
The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed abnormally high tides would enhance the flood risk, primarily during three hours on either side of the high tide at 9.20pm.
The SES advised residents to prepare for evacuation by packing valuables, important documents, clothes and supplies for a 48-hour period.
They also reminded residents not to drive through floodwaters, and to have a plan in case roads are closed.

The Wests Tigers’ reserve grade team took on the Penrith Panthers for the InTrust Super Premiership during a slippery game at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday afternoon.
They ultimately came in second best with a score of 42-24.
