A young child was in a home allegedly stockpiled with drugs and weapons just hours before police swooped in during a raid targeting heroin and meth dealers in Sydney’s inner west, a court has heard.
Four of the six people arrested and charged after the Glebe syndicate was smashed have faced Central Local Court for the first time after Tuesday’s early morning operation.
They are Shannon Littlewood, Michael Correa, James O’Brien and Peter Chester.
They have been charged with a raft of offences, with police alleging they ran a drug dealing operation servicing hundreds of users out of two homes on St John’s Rd.
Police allegedly seized fireworks, bags of heroin, meth, cannabis, $5000 cash, a baton, a slingshot and ammunition during the raid on the home.
During Littlewood’s bail application, the court heard a toddler and its mother were in the home the day before police arrested the group at the property.
Police infiltrated the operation after conducting surveillance of the homes and intercepting phone calls in a sting that began in March.
Correa was described as the group’s ringleader by police prosecutor Sergeant Chris Manning in court and lived on the same street as the house that was raided on Tuesday.
The court was told detectives had noticed between 10 to 30 deals going down at the house every day for about a month.
Littlewood, a heroin addict, was granted bail after his lawyer submitted he would reside in Campbelltown on release and cease communicating with his co-accused.
All four will return to court on various dates later in the year, while two other women charged will front court for the first time in June.
