#SnapSydney: Sydney in a purple patch with jacaranda trees in full bloom

IN celebration of this Wednesday’s #SnapSydney event we took to the sky with a drone to capture the true glory of Sydney’s jacaranda display from the air.

Jacarandas over Sydney

ON a sunny spring day Sydney is stunning, but never more so than the first weeks of November when jacaranda trees dot the urban landscape with their striking purple foliage.

In celebration of this Wednesday’s #SnapSydney event we took to the sky with a drone to capture the true glory of the jacaranda display from the sky.

First stop was Ashmore Street in Erskinville with it’s trees forming a regal guard of honour down both sides.

Drone pilot Joshua Hulm from CinemAir Aerial Photography said it made for spectacular viewing from the ground and even more wonderful from the sky.

“It was an absolute pleasure filming the Jacaranda trees from the sky,” he said.
“Sydney looks stunning from above on any day of the week, but the added pops of purple, which we only get the pleasure of viewing for such a limited time elevate the view to something bordering on magical.”

Next stop was Sydney’s inner west gem at Callan Park in Rozelle.

Hovering close to the trees the drone rises to reveal a landscape dotted with purple highlights.

On Wednesday Joshua will be piloting the drone at four locations around the city from the beaches to Parramatta as part of #SnapSydney.

Our website at snapsydney.com.au will host all of the best pictures taken by the drone, from helciopters and by dozens of journalists and photographers across Sydney.

Similar events will also be taking place in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

And the best part is we want yoy to take part too, simply by taking a picture of your favourite thing about Sydney and sharing it with the world on social media.

The best images will be displayed and constantly updated online at snapsydney.com.au

Snap, hashtag and share the magic this Wednesday.
