The 17-year-old was struck by a car on Bennelong Parkway in Homebush Bay, while on his way to the train station to be picked up for training on Thursday evening.

He died a short time later at Westmead Hospital.

“He was sick, he wasn’t even going to train, he just wanted to turn up and do the right thing,” Adam’s father Daniel Lees said.

“Adam seems to have impacted on hundreds of lives, everyone he’s been in contact with really, with his energy and love of life.

“We’re all hurting and it’s not going to go away quickly.”

The Homebush Boys High student was an Enfield Federals player, although he played a lot of his juniors in the Parramatta area and was a keen Eels supporter.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the loss of one of our players, Adam Lees, a mate to all who knew him, taken so young but more importantly a loveable son and brother taken from his parents in such tragic circumstances,” a statement on the Enfield Federal’s Facebook page read.

“The news has devastated Enfield Federals not only the players, but our families too.

“The boys from his team have gathered together today to be with each other and his family as a support and comfort.

“One cannot imagine what Adam’s family is going through.”

“Adam had a strong bond and close connection with the boys and spoke of them as his brothers,” the Facebook tribute read.

“Adam will be dearly missed by the family and friends of Enfield Federals, the Balmain Junior League and the wider Rugby League and Touch Football Communities.”
