HUNDREDS of inner west students will start the new year in a unique, pop-up campus at Wentworth Park as Ultimo Public School undergoes a major redevelopment.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian today visited the temporary campus at Wentworth Park, which will accommodate students in 14 classrooms while the Wattle St site is being redeveloped.
The temporary school took seven months to complete and includes a library, school hall, canteen and administration space.
The new campus at Wattle St will increase student capacity from 350 students currently to up to 800 students.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the upgrade was designed to maximise space for students, despite it being located in one of Sydney’s most densely populated suburbs.
“Ultimo has been transformed over the last decade into a cosmopolitan urban community which is reflected in the design of this brand new school,” Ms Berejiklian said.
The redevelopment of Ultimo Public School is one of 120 new or upgraded school projects the State Government is funding over the next four years.
A new educational village in Ultimo will also include a library, hall, indoor and outdoor play spaces, after school facilities and space for a future early learning centre
The new three-storey campus is expected to open in 2020.
