NSW state election 2019: Where to vote in the inner west
CONGESTION, overdevelopment and investment in schools have been flagged as key issues for the inner west. Find out where your closest polling booth is for the election this Saturday.
CONGESTION, overdevelopment, investment in schools and transport projects will almost certainly be at the forefront of inner west voters’ minds as they head to the polls this Saturday.
STRATHFIELD, SUMMER HILL AND DRUMMOYNE
Election expert Antony Green has predicted incumbents Jodi McKay, Jo Haylen and John Sidoti will retain their seats of Strathfield, Summer Hill and Drummoyne.
“I think all the seats will be held by the sitting members,” Mr Green said.
But there have been greater upsets in NSW political history and nothing is certain until all the votes are tallied.
Pre-polling for Drummoyne is available at 150 — 158 Victoria Road, Drummoyne and at The Connection in Rhodes.
For Summer Hill pre-polling will be at the Ashfield Civic Centre and at 310 Marrickville Road, Marrickville and for Strathfield it’s at 46 Burwood Rd, Burwood.
Here are some of the voting centres for Strathfield, the inner west’s most marginal seat: Ashfield Town Hall, Burwood Girls High, Burwood Park Community Centre, Malvern Hall Uniting Church and Strathfield South Uniting Church Hall.
People can also exercise their democratic right at Burwood, Croydon Park, Enfield, Homebush and Homebush West public schools.
For those in the Summer Hill electorate, you can go to these public schools; Ashbury, Dulwich Hill, Haberfield, Lewisham, Marrickville, Marrickville west and Wilkins.
Or Hepisipa Uniting Church, St Johns Anglican Church in Ashfield and the Summer Hill community centre.
Drummoyne electors can go to Concord Community Church, Concord West Uniting Church, St Andrews Anglican Church in Abbottsford and The Connection in Rhodes.
Also at the following public schools; Concord, Concord West, Drummoyne, Five Dock and Mortlake.
BALMAIN AND NEWTOWN
POLITICS expert Stewart Jackson predicts Greens MPs Jamie Parker and Jenny Leong will retain their seats of Balmain and Newtown.
But Dr Stewart believes Balmain could go “down to the wire” between Mr Parker and Labor’s Elly Howse.
Early voters in Balmain can go to pre-poll stations at 104-108 Victoria Road in Rozelle, Leichhardt Town Hall or St Barnabas Church Broadway.
Polling centres for the Saturday include Glebe Town Hall, Peter Forsyth Auditorium, St Fiacres Church Hall, Jimmy Little Community Centre and Balmain Hospital.
Pre poll for those in the Newtown electorate is on level six on the corner of Gibbons and Redfern Streets in Redfern, Leichhardt Town Hall, St Barnabas Church Broadway or 310 Marrickville Rd, Marrickville.
Polling centres on Saturday including Petersham Town Hall, Redfern Centre, Stanmore Baptist Church, The Factory Community Centre and Australia St Infants School.
On Saturday polls will open at 8am and close at 6pm.
