A high-flying finance boss was double the blood alcohol limit when he drunkenly smashed his red Ferrari into a shopfront in Sydney’s CBD, nearly cleaning up a pedestrian.

Norman Anthony Vancuylenberg has pleaded guilty to mid-range drink driving, driving unlicensed and dangerous driving following the boozy incident in January.

Downing Centre Local Court heard the 41-year-old, who helped start home loan broker Rams, drove his flash sports car into a window at David Jones on the corner of Market and Castlereagh streets about 3.25pm on January 6, 2020.

A woman, 61, was taken to hospital having sustained minor hip injuries when she was forced to run from the car’s path, while a female passenger was not hurt.

Shoppers watched on as the heavily damaged vehicle was towed from the scene, as Vancuylenberg was interviewed by police while sitting in the gutter.

Also known by last name Formisano, the former boss of financial planner Giant Finance Group blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.107 at Sydney City police station following his arrest.
