One of the first words wife killer Mu Rong Hong said to cops after stabbing his wife had nothing to do with a concern for his partner.

Instead, the suburban 62-year-old Sydney dad rambled on about not sleeping well and denying he murdered his wife.

“It is not murder it is manslaughter, it’s mental health,” court documents show he told an Auburn command inspector.

One of the first conversations Hong had with police after the horror domestic altercation were revealed on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Burwood Local Court.

His words came after an inspector had charged him with murder and asked what factors police should consider if he wanted to be released on bail.

His wife Mu Xia Hong, 57, died from dozens of stab wounds after the incident at her daughter’s Harrow Rd, Berala home in November 2019.

His dark actions took place in front of Ms Hong’s daughter and other witnesses.

What sparked the confrontation between the two has never been aired in open court, but the death stunned the community and tore the family apart.

“I have not slept for two months check my phone,” he went on to tell the inspector, reportedly adamant he should be released on bail.

When asked if there was any other reasons that should be considered he told the officer “he required HEP B medication and sleeping pills”, according to court documents.

Loved ones were driven away in tears two years ago as police tape went up around the family home and Hong was paraded down the street, cuffed with his hands bagged, before being bundled into a police car.

Hong’s case will next be heard in the Supreme Court later this year where he will be sentenced.
