Two Mongols bikies have been charged over a street robbery in Sydney’s inner west that left a man hospitalised with a fractured jaw.
Luke Owens and Eddie Maiaua are accused by police of approaching the alleged victim outside his apartment on East St, Five Dock on December 21 last year before repeatedly punching him in the head and stealing his satchel bag and a gold watch.
The man returned to his home while Owens and Maiaua allegedly fled the scene.
He was treated for his injuries at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital after a bystander who witnessed the incident alerted emergency services.
Maiaua, 40, was arrested and charged with robbery in company by the state’s bikie busting Strike Force Raptor cops earlier this year but remains on strict conditional bail.
Police had seized a number of items from his Erskine Park home after a search on January 15.
Fellow Mongols member Owens was arrested on Railway Pde Eastwood on March 10 and also faces a charge of robbery in company – he has been denied bail.
Both had their matters adjourned to May 13 in the Burwood Local Court on Wednesday.
Neither physically appeared in court under new coronavirus directions from the state’s Chief Magistrate Graeme Henson.
Court sheriffs at Burwood now have the power to turn away anyone from the courthouse and media access is only being granted under strict conditions.
