A 58-year-old man is facing three extra charges after allegedly vandalising Transport Minister Jo Haylen’s electorate office multiple times in January and twice in less than a week.
He was charged with two counts of destroying or damaging property and two counts of intentionally marking premises without consent – aggravated – after allegedly spray painting the words “anti-Semite” on Saturday afternoon.
The charges also relate to allegedly spray painting: “Demanding freedom of religion is not divisive or criminal, it’s a duty. God, duty, country’’ on the external wall of the Marrickville Rd office on Wednesday when police were patrolling Marrickville Rd just before 10am.
Police arrested him and seized the spray can.
Following an investigation, police slapped the man with three fresh charges on Thursday – knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol without excuse, destroying or damaging property, and intentionally marking premises without consent.
Police will also allege in court the man graffitied a Nazi swastika on the same building on January 1.
He was refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court on Thursday.
