Border Force officials have busted a major importation of ice bound for the streets of Sydney, with two Malaysian men charged after the drugs were found stashed in an air cargo consignment.
The arrests came after detectives from Sydney City command’s Strike Force Domben were alerted to the attempted 1kg international importation last Wednesday by ABF officers.
Last Friday, three men aged 29, 31 and 39 were arrested at a shopping centre in Wentworth Point before they were taken to Burwood police station.
The 39-year-old man was released while the other two, Malaysian nationals Yew Choow Tung and Han Yi Low, were charged with two counts of importing a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.
They will remain behind bars after appearing in the Parramatta Bail Court at the weekend, where they did not apply for bail.
Strike Force Domben was established last April by the Sydney City Police Area Command in a bid to crack down on the supply of ice within the city’s CBD and surrounding areas.
