A serving police officer accused of harrassing an alleged victim has had his charges mentioned in court for the first time.

Kensington man Luke Schofield, 25, who is a constable with the NSW Police, had his matter briefly mentioned at Newtown Local Court on Monday.

He has been charged with two counts of using a carriage service to menace or harass someone after officers from Inner West Police Area Command launched inquiries on Thursday.

An apprehended violence order has also been made for the alleged victim.

The conditions of the order mean Schofield can’t assault or threaten the alleged victim or anyone known to them, or destroy any animals or property which belong to them.

The next day, Schofield was arrested at Newtown police station and granted conditional bail.

In Newtown Local Court on Monday, the police officer’s matter was adjourned.

His employment status is under review.
