Katrina Bohnenkamp: Step-brother alleges he found her lifeless body

Seven years on from her disappearance, Katrina Bohnenkamp’s stepbrother has sensationally alleged he discovered her lifeless body with her father standing over her. Her father stormed out of the inquest when the claim was aired, having previously denied any knowledge of her disappearance.

The coronial inquest into the disappearance of teenage runaway Katrina Bohnenkamp has heard a stunning version of events about how the troubled youngster potentially went missing.

In a police interview from February of this year played at the inquest, Katrina’s stepbrother Rick Olden recalled of seeing her lifeless body in the back yard with her father Maiko Bohnenkamp standing over her the week she vanished.

“I said what the f*** have you done you’ve killed her,” Mr Olden told police.

“He said ‘I had to hit her, I had to hit her’.”

Mr Bohnenkamp has previously denied knowing what happened to his daughter.

The alleged revelations come almost eight years after Katrina disappeared, having last been seen at her father’s Strathfield boarding house in October 2012.

“By the time I got around the back … Katrina was lying flat now facing me on her tummy,” Mr Olden told police in the interview.

“Maiko was standing behind her with a look on his face like ‘what the f*** have I done’, he was in the same disbelief I was.

“She was lifeless deadset it looked scary I think I even said ‘what the f*** have you done man’ I think I said ‘you killed your daughter’.

Mr Olden then told detectives he was worried about how the sight of him and Mr Bohnenkamp moving a lifeless body in plain view would look.

He said they then moved her to a room inside the house and he put a blanket over her.

That was the last time Mr Olden was certain he saw her, he said, but claimed he also had a fleeting memory of her at dinner the next evening with a bruised face but was unsure whether that was the next day.

“I believed she was breathing when I went out the back and saw her lifeless … she was more of unconscious but she did look dead,” Mr Olden can be heard saying in the interview.

Mr Olden, an ice addict, said his sudden recollections came after he told his girlfriend about the memory from years earlier and she convinced him it was a memory he tried to forget about.

He can be heard telling detectives in the same interview he “didn’t want the cops looking for him over a murder” and “didn’t want to be charged or to be considered a suspect”.

“I thought is it just me making something up in my head is it a dream,” he said.

“It just popped up in my head it was just clear as day and I was like where did this vision come from.”

Mr Olden also told his grandfather about the memory in recent weeks, who himself gave evidence that he did not believe his grandson as he had previously told him false stories.

Ron Gundy told the inquest he essentially discredited the version of events as it was “hard to believe” his Mr Olden and he thought he was under the influence of ice when he recalled the vision to him this year.

The inquest before Coroner Carmel Forbes continues.
