A fresh-faced speedster clocked going more than 100km/h during a drag race in Sydney’s west is “sorry for (his) mistake”.

Joseph Bechara, 24, offered up the apology after fronting cameras outside Burwood Local Court this morning where he pleaded guilty to racing another Subaru in Auburn in December.

He was spotted by police racing along the M4 in the early hours of the morning before they caught up with Bechara, who was pulled over after being pursued by exiting the motorway.

The driver of the other Subaru, Emma Mae Wailes was arrested the next day.

Bechara, who flashes his muscles across his social media pages, has pleaded guilty to driving recklessly, driving more than 45km/h over the speed limit, but not guilty to organising an illegal street race.

His licence was suspended on the spot and told the court he has sought legal advice on his case.

Wailes, who did not appear in court today, has not pleaded to any of the charges.

“I’m sorry for my mistake,” Bechara told media outside court.

Because he will defend the charge alleging he organised the illegal drag race, Bechara will return to court later this year for a hearing.

Wailes will appear in court later this month, where she will have to enter a plea.
