How inner west schools ranked in HSC
Meriden School in Strathfield has taken out the top spot as the inner west’s best academic school in the 2018 HSC results.
MERIDEN SCHOOL in Strathfield has taken out the top spot as the inner west’s best academic school in the 2018 HSC results.
The Anglican girls school was ranked 12th in NSW out of 578 schools, beating its 2017 result by 11 spots.
Meriden students Yiran (Betty) Zheng and Katherine Li topped the state in senior science and Chinese in context and received 310 Distinguished Achievements.
A total of 103 Meriden students completed the 2018 HSC and 23 of them were named as All-Round Achievers which are those students who have achieved results in the highest band possible for at least 10 units of HSC courses.
Fort Street high school in Petersham was the second highest ranking school in the inner west and placed 15th in NSW, slipping three places from last year.
Student John Bivell topped the state in the highly competitive subject of economics.
Presbyterian Ladies College at Croydon ranked third in the region, followed by Santa Sabina College at Strathfield and MLC School in Burwood.
Newtown High School of Performing Arts ranked 6th in the inner west. Strathfield Girls High smashed ranked 7th and smashed its 2017 ranking of 107 to rank number 86 this year.
St Patrick’s College in Strathfield ranked 8th in the inner west, followed by Newington College in Stanmore and Trinity Grammar which slipped in the state rankings from 64 to 111.
Zachary Joel Saric from St Patrick’s College topped NSW in Entertainment Industry Examination.
