DINERS were stunned and elated when Hollywood superstar Drew Barrymore breezed into a Leichhardt restaurant last Saturday.
Capriccio Osteria & Bar owner Michele Rispoli said it was an “amazing experience” to meet the highly acclaimed actor who ordered squid-ink spaghetti with blue swimmer crab, saffron fettuccine with vongole and mussels and a mixed salad, washed down with “a few glasses” of Pinot Grigio.
“I was very happy and tense at the same time as she was eating in my restaurant,” Mr Rispoli said.
“It took me three or four minutes to recognise her as she was with five people and she was very casual.
“We spoke for around 20 minutes and she said she loved the food and she took all my details and business card; my heart was going crazy.”
Barrymore was in Sydney to promote the launch of her make-up line Flower Beauty.
Mr Rispoli said it was a dream come true to meet her as he had watched E.T when he was little and was also a big Charlie’s Angels fan.
“When she was leaving she told me she would like to add my restaurant to her new blog,” Mr Rispoli said.
“She was very lovely to speak to me and she made me feel comfortable around her very quickly. And when she hugged me for the photo, it was the best experience.”
