A French national who kicked a security guard in the groin after she and a friend were booted from an inner city bar became enraged after she was allegedly told to “go back to France”, a court heard.

Lucie Mahe, faced Downing Centre Local Court after pleading guilty to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault.

The charges relate to an incident earlier this month at Goros, a Japanese themed bar in Surry Hills, which Mahe and her friend were ejected from.

On Thursday, the court heard Mahe became “agitated” and was “yelling and screaming” at a security guard, stating he was racist for kicking her out.

She then “raised her right leg and kicked him in the groin”, causing immediate pain before kicking a second person who told her to leave.

Mahe then turned her rage toward a woman who had been working at the bar and hit her in the face.

At this point “multiple bystanders had to physically intervene” to prevent Mahe from further violent actions, the court heard.

Mahe’s defence lawyer said “there was a degree of provocation” preluding Mahe’s outburst, but noted “there was absolutely no excuse for her behaviour”.

The lawyer also pointed out that Mahe could have fled back to France “at any point’, but instead chose to “face the music” and had “glowing” character references commending her work ethic and for “embracing the Australian way of life”.

Magistrate Miranda Moody acknowledged Mahe had no criminal record but said her actions on the night were “disgraceful” and couldn’t be dealt with without a conviction.

Mahe was convicted, sentenced to a 12 month conditional release order and fined $1100.
