The ex-face of F45 Daniel Conn has opened a new simulated altitude training gym with girlfriend Ellice Whichello in the heart of the inner west.

The former NRL player, 34, launched Combine Air Training in Rozelle on October 10, which promises “the benefits of taking things up a notch (or 3500 metres) with us” and boasts the tagline “it’s in the air”.

The squad-based training includes 50-minute sessions in a “scientifically proven simulated altitude training arena” of 3500 metres above sea level.

Insta-Famous couple Conn and Whichello are listed as co-founders of the project, while Whichello, previously marketing manager at 12RND Fitness, has also taken on a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) role.

Nutritionist Whichello is currently the Master Boxing Trainer at Keep It Cleaner, a wellness program co-founded by popular blogger Steph Claire Smith.

In a launch video for Combine Air on Conn’s YouTube page on August 30, he introduces the gym as: “Something … new to the market. The most advanced science, the most advanced technology and a whole new way that we can bring squad training back to the community.”

Conn had seven years in the NRL before suffering a career-ending neck surgery.

He has since been a global F45 ambassador and held a corporate wellness-director position at Collective Wellness Group.

He says he now hopes to utilise his expertise and connections, as he has “learnt that sitting in an office doesn’t help you build communities on the ground”.

“I decided to go out on my own and chase something bigger than myself. I went in search of a better way, supported by an amazing team … (and) connections I’ve met all around the world,” he said.

Promotional images feature an international cast of personal trainers including Bondi model Clayton Carfino, former Men’s Physique Slovak Champion Radovan Durovic and Canadian Rugby League player Megan Gosselin.

A high-production promo video uploaded to social media begins “when you want something different, you gotta work different”.

The launch follows Conn’s recent appearance before the courts.

He got into a disagreement with his business partner at Hustle Boxing gym in Potts Point.

He appeared in court last month and pleaded guilty to intimidation and stalking, destroying property and breaching an AVO and was sentenced to a 14 month conditional release order.
