Multimillion-dollar development plans have been revealed to turn the old Concord RSL into a multi-million dollar dining and entertainment hub.
The Croatian Club, who purchased the site of the vacant RSL club for $8.55 million last year, has revealed designs and redevelopment plans to turn the old watering hole into a revamped RSL.
The development is estimated to cost just shy of $13 million and would be renamed as The Concord.
Plans to the City of Canada Bay Council show the venue would include a state of the art function venue for up to 340 guests, a new facade, roof modifications, an extension hosting a new bistro and alfresco dining area
There would also be a formal lounge, a gaming room with 40 seats, a memorabilia-filled sports bar, a new lawn with an ANZAC memorial, a potential gym and a child’s play area.
Included in the planning documents are the proposed hours of operation, which would see the club’s main bar, outdoor area and gaming lounge stay open until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Plans said the redevelopment proposal had been designed to keep in character with the neighbourhood.
“The club is consistent with the desired character of this recreational precinct and encourages community engagement within a multicultural and recreational context,” the plans stated.
The Croatian Club have pledged to reinstate the ANZAC memorial and would continue to honour traditions, such as the dawn service, to keep the new club in step with its history.
The redevelopment plan is the latest chapter in the history of the club, which went into administration and ceased trading in 2019.
The proposal has been lodged to the City of Canada Bay and is currently open for public feedback.
