Young boys were left “grimacing” in the foetal position as they were sexually abused by a Chippendale paedophile who treated the victims “as sexual commodities”, a court heard.
Collen Teoxon Dixon, 36, previously pleaded guilty to 27 offences, including child abuse material offences and sexual intercourse with person under 16 outside Australia.
The Downing Centre District Court heard on Friday about Dixon’s abuse, which included a range of sex acts on 10 boys, aged between 13 and 17, in the Philippines across a four-year period.
The sex acts are too graphic for this publication to publish.
Reading from agreed facts, Judge Nicole Noman said a search warrant was executed at Dixon’s address on July 6, 2021 where he allowed police to access encrypted files.
During the search, child abuse material was located on devices, including three mobile phones, and a hard drive.
Ms Noman said there was no evidence to suggest “access” to the devices would have been possible without Dixon’s co-operation.
The judge described the Chippendale man as a “pedophile”, with the seized child abuse material ranging from babies to adolescents.
Judge Noman told the court at times victims had retreated to the foetal position and told Dixon they were in pain. However, he continued to sexually abuse the boys.
She said when Dixon was in Australia he would arrange “suitable accommodation” and access to the boys before flying to the Philippines.
The court heard the 36-year-old, who has autism and a pedophilic diagnosis, had told police he accessed child abuse material since the age of 14 after experiencing childhood trauma and a disadvantaged upbringing.
The court heard Dixon would likely be deported back to New Zealand as he doesn’t hold an Australian citizenship.
The Chippendale man wrote a letter to the court where he “expressed his sorrow and regret” for the offending.
Dixon was convicted and jailed for 16 years, with an 11-year non parole period.
He will be eligible for release on parole in July 2032.
