AUSTRALIA’S leading election analyst expects all five of the inner west’s sitting members to be re-elected.

That includes Strathfield, the area’s most marginal seat held by Labor’s Jodi McKay.

Election expert Antony Green said the Liberals left it “very late” to endorse their candidate Philip Madirazza, a Canterbury Bankstown councillor.

“If they’d had a higher profile candidate and a big campaign it might have had an impact but I think all the inner west seats will be held by the sitting members,” Mr Green said.

“There’s likely to be a general swing towards Labor at the election and I expect the Labor margin will increase in Strathfield.”

Ms McKay holds the seat on a thin margin of 1.8 per cent.

The ballot draw on Thursday revealed a total of six candidates are vying for the seat. The others are Crisetta MacLeod (The Greens), Vinay Orekondy (Keep Sydney Open), Simon Fletcher (Animal Justice Party) and Jack Liang (Australian Conservatives).

Mr Green expected Labor’s Jo Haylen to be re-elected in Summer Hill, Liberal John Sidoti to retain Drummoyne and for the Greens Jamie Parker and Jenny Leong to be re-elected in Balmain and Newtown.

“I live in Newtown and I haven’t seen one campaign poster or leaflet two weeks before the election so I think Jenny Leong will win it easily,” he said.

“The inner west will have very little impact on the election, which will be decided on the far north coast and country NSW and a couple of marginal seats in Sydney.”

The candidates taking on Ms Haylen in Summer Hill are Leo Wei (Liberal), Andrea Markis (Keep Sydney Open), Teresa Romanovsky (Animal Justice Party), Dale Sinden (Sustainable Australia) and Tom Raue (Green).

Those vying for Drummoyne against Mr Sidoti are Maurice Saidi (Animal Justice Party), Tom Hore (Labor), David Roberts (Keep Sydney Open) and Charles Jago (Greens).
