Singer-songwriter Imogen Clark has been itching to perform since COVID-19 hit and she was at the head of the queue when live music returned to city venues.
Following on from sold out EP launch concerts last month, Clark is holding her First Annual Holiday Hootenanny Concert at Marrickville’s Factory Theatre on Wednesday, December 9.
Joining Clark and her band will be Sarah Belkner, Lozz Benson, Timothy James Bowen, Melanie Dyer, Lindsay McDougall and Georgia Mooney (All Our Exes Live In Texas) – plus some unannounced guests. Late additions to the bill include Montaigne, Shane Nicholson and Jack Moffitt (The Preatures).
The gig is sure to feature some of the six songs from her new EP The Making of Me, which was recorded in LA, overseen by producer Mike Bloom and with big-hitting session musos including Tom Petty’s keyboardist Benmont Tench and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) on drums.
It’s well worth a listen. Powerful vocals are underpinned by some fine arena rock backing. The title track, an autobiographical anthem of hope, is a highlight.
Tickets for the Hootenanny are on sale at factorytheatre.com.au.
