Police have cracked down on drug possession at a popular Illawarra music festival, charging 23 and allegedly seizing substances including MDMA and magic mushrooms.

Almost two dozen people have been charged with drug offences following a major police operation at a popular music festival in the Illawarra.
Police conducted a high-visibility operation at the Yours and Owls music festival in Wollongong during the weekend of March 1 and 2, resulting in 23 people being charged with drug possession.
NSW Police said MDMA was the most commonly detected drug during the popular festival.
The operation, which also led to 24 court attendance notices, involved officers from the Wollongong Police District, the NSW Police Dog Unit, and specialist commands.
Across the two-day crackdown, police issued 21 criminal infringement notices, 18 cannabis cautions, and ejected six festival goers.
One of those charged was a 24-year-old man who was allegedly found with MDMA and a bag of magic mushrooms hidden in his pants.
Those charged are set to face Wollongong Local Court at a later date.
