A young woman has admitted she played a key role in the “day-to-day dealings” of an Illawarra party drug syndicate allegedly run by her 20-year-old boyfriend and his burly twin brother.

On Tuesday, 20-year-old Nikita Campbell pleaded guilty to participating in a criminal group and three counts of knowingly taking part in the supply of prohibited drugs, after the court heard she assisted her boyfriend Joel Westman and his brother Flinn in running an alleged drug ring responsible for the supply of cocaine and MDMA on the South Coast.

The trio was arrested at the red-headed twins’ Coniston home in sweeping early morning raids on August 16 last year, after police spent weeks surveilling their movements. The twins’ older brother Daniel, as well as several other men, were also arrested on the same day, all accused of taking part in the alleged supply of party drugs.

In documents tendered to Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday, police described the syndicate as “well-planned, sophisticated and meticulously organised”, and alleged the Westman twins were the king pins, responsible for the sale of tens of hundreds of dollars worth of drugs.

The documents revealed police had captured Campbell bagging and weighing both cocaine and MDMA inside the boy’s home on several occasions in 2019, and had captured her often referring to the drugs as “rack”, “pearl”, and “M”.

On July 5 last year, police surveillance captured Campbell removing several bags of drugs from a kitchen drawer, before weighing them and handing them to another man, who hid them in his pants before leaving the property.

Just one day later, police watched on as Campbell returned to the twins’ home and handed her boyfriend a package. Immediately following, the court heard they both sat at the dining table and opened the package, where they allegedly counted out between $80,000 and $100,000 in cash.

In the documents tendered to the court, police claim that while Campbell is unemployed she “continues to live a life above her reported financial capabilities” and that at the time of her arrest, was a user of both cocaine and MDMA.

Graeme Ashfield, who police allege is another member of the alleged syndicate, also faced Wollongong Local Court on Monday, where he entered a plea of not guilty to participate in a criminal group, but admitted guilt to three other charges including supply prohibited drug and possess or use prohibited weapon without permit.

Campbell will face court in June for sentencing, while Ashfield will return to court in October.

The Westman twins have both been refused bail and remain in custody. Joel and Flinn are each facing 26 drug supply charges, some of which carry a maximum penalty of life behind bars if convicted.
