Warrawong man hit with 19 child abuse offences after alleged sexual assaults of teen boy
A man’s home has been raided by the state’s child abuse squad after he was charged with a string of offences relating to a teen boy.

An Illawarra man has been refused bail, accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy on several occasions, after allegedly giving him alcohol and the drug ice.
The 20-year-old man’s Warrawong unit was raided by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad on Wednesday, after they received reports the teen boy had been sexually assaulted by the man.
After meeting on social media in 2017 when the boy was 13, police will allege the man assaulted him on several different occasions over a two-year period, at times giving him methamphetamine or alcohol before having sex with him.
After executing a search warrant at the man’s home on Wednesday, police arrested him and charged him with 19 child abuse offences, including eight counts of have sexual intercourse with child under 16 years, six counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with child under 16 years, incite person under 16 years to commit act of indecency, commit act of indecency with person under 16 years, intentionally sexually touch child under 16 years, produce child abuse material, and threaten to record intimate image without consent.
Some of the most distressing new claims laid out in court documents allege the man took photos of the boy in a state of undress, and at one stage threatened to send the photos to other people.
During the search on the man’s home, police allegedly found two mobile phones, a laptop and hotel key card, which were seized for forensic examination.
The man appeared at Wollongong Local Court in front of Magistrate Susan McGowan on
Wednesday, where his application for bail was refused.
The 20-year-old is yet to enter any pleas to the charges and will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in March.
