Destructive vandals have left residents of a Bellambi street in fear, after terrorising the neighbourhood in an early morning graffiti rampage.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a group of up to six men used spray paint to plaster slogans and warning messages on dozens of Scobie Crescent homes and cars.

More than 30 homes were graffitied during the attack.

Between 4am and 4.30am, the men smashed windows and windscreens of several cars, while tagging at least 30 homes with “21 IW” or “21 Inner West”, along with the words “dog” and “dog gronk”.

While it’s unknown who is responsible for the damage and destruction, some residents believe the culprits may belong to a Sydney “rap gang”, while others believe it was a “copycat” attack.

One of the worst hit residents had the windows to both his cars smashed and graffiti painted all over the front of his home.

“We don’t know why this has happened,” he said. “We’ve only been here since December and we’ve never heard of anything like this happening around here.”

The resident said he heard the sound of his car windows smashing just before 4.30am and hopped out of bed to investigate.

“I looked out the window and they were running off down the street,” he said. “I went out the front door and my son called the police.”

Luckily, the resident had security cameras set up at his home, and captured the whole incident on camera, which has since been handed in to police.

“I hope they catch them,” he said. “They can’t be running around doing this kind of thing to people. It’s disgusting.”

Joee, another Scobie Crescent resident said she was woken by a neighbour on Sunday morning, who informed her that she too had been tagged.

“I came outside and saw all the tagging and I just felt sick,” she said.

“I’ve lived here for 25 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. It feels like a Halloween prank gone wrong.”

A few doors up from Joee’s home, a fence was spray-painted with the words “Luke, your time has come”.

“That’s pretty scary isn’t it,” Joee said. “Makes it all feel like they were after someone.”

Police are yet to comment about the vandalism, but have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
