Teen girl dies after horrific Berkeley crash

A teenage girl has died in hospital after a serious crash involving a motorbike and car at Berkeley last weekend.

A teenage girl has died in hospital after she was critically injured in a crash involving a car and motorbike at Berkeley last weekend.

Emergency services were called to Hertford Street just after 11.30pm last Sunday, where they found a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy seriously injured on the side of the road.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District were told the teens had been riding an unregistered motorbike east along Hertford Street when they collided with a car.

Neither of the riders were wearing helmets.

The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man from Figtree, stopped and rendered assistance to the injured teens before they were taken to Wollongong Hospital.

The man was not injured and has undergone mandatory testing.

The teen girl died in hospital on Thursday while the boy remains on life support.
