A 57-year-old man has died in hospital after a ute landed on top of him as he swept the front porch of his Stanwell Park home on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the white twin cab ute crashed into a power pole on the corner of Lawrence Hargrave Drive and Railway Crescent before colliding with the occupant of the home around 8.30am.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and four NSW Ambulance crews and a specialist medical team via helicopter were dispatched.

NSW Ambulance Special Operations Paramedic Mark Bartlett said the scene was “quite horrific.”

“We had a lot of help from the community and other emergency services. It was good to see the community band together in such difficult circumstances,” he said.

“We need to take care on the roads. One simple mistake can end in tragedy.”

Mr Bartlett said the 57-year-old man suffered significant head and chest injuries and was flown to St George Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The driver of the utility, a 40-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Investigations are continuing.
