Sidelined NRL star Jack de Belin’s sexual assault trial has been delayed due to pre-trial argument.
De Belin arrived at Wollongong courthouse for his district court trial on Monday morning with his manager Steve Gillis, while his co-accused, 21-year-old Callan Sinclair arrived with his lawyer Graeme Morrison.
The rugby league players are facing a joint jury trial over the alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman inside a Wollongong unit late in 2018
They have each pleaded not guilty to five counts of aggravated sexual assault.
While the trial was set to commence in front of Judge Andrew Haesler on Monday, proceedings were delayed so pre-trial argument could occur.
Continued arguments on Tuesday are set to further delay the commencement of the trial, which is expected to last two weeks.
