A sixth person has been charged in relation to the alleged murder of a young father at Albion Park in May.
Daniel Merrett, also known as Daniel Clulow, 27, was killed in the early hours of May 18, after the vehicle he was travelling in was allegedly chased and shot at before crashing into a turning petrol tanker at Albion Park.
Mr Clulow died at the scene while the three other people in the car were seriously injured.
Following Mr Clulow’s death, Strike Force Warrane was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detectives arrested and charged five people in the weeks following the fatal crash, and on Monday, a 22-year-old woman was also taken into police custody for her alleged role in the incident.
The woman was arrested at her Haywards Bay home just after 11am on Monday, following a short police operation.
She was taken into custody at Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder and use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.
The young woman is the sixth person to be charged in relation to Mr Clulow’s death.
She was set to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Monday, but as her lawyer was not present, the case was held over until Wednesday.
