An Illawarra man has faced court after multiple guns, explosives equipment, ammo, and other deadly weapons were allegedly found in a raid on his house.
Sebastiano Tarantello, 55, appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday, charged with six counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of acquire firearm part without authority, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm and holder of license not have approved storage.
The Figtree man is yet to enter pleas.
The charges arise after Wollongong Police District officers conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order compliance check at a home in Outlook Dr, Figtree on Thursday, February 6.
During the search, police allegedly uncovered three registered firearms, one unregistered firearm, ammunition and firearm accessories, five slingshots, perimeter alarms, more than 20 firearm parts, powder used to make explosives, fuses, four detonators with a remote, two flick knives, a gel blaster, three extendible batons and an electronic stun device.
Tarantello’s firearms license was also seized during the search.
Following inquiries and investigation, Tarantello was arrested and hit with the charges the following day.
He appeared in Parramatta Local Court on February 8, before appearing in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday before Magistrate David Walliams.
Despite bail initially being refused upon his arrest, Tarantello was ultimately granted bail on Tuesday, before Mr Williams adjourned his case for further mention on March 4 at the same court.
