A pregnant Illawarra mum who scrawled ‘fraud is a way of life’ on her mirror in pink lipstick has been slapped with an additional 106 charges, after a major investigation into fraudulent activity in the Lake Illawarra region.

Jade Killin, 33, was first arrested on November 12 and charged with 14 fraud offences, including making false documents and using the same documents.

Later that month she pleaded guilty to the charges, admitting she created false medical certificates and forged her doctor’s signature to excuse herself from community service work with Wollongong Community Corrections.

During a search on her home, police found a “fraud to do list” sticky-taped above her bed head, which featured descriptions like “Monday: try to do two pay slips each for 10 names”.

Saturday was “Servo Day”, where the plan was to “apply for fuel cards in five different names with all companies” while Sunday was “LOANS DAY!”, where Killin allegedly planned to “apply for loans using five different names”.

She has remained in custody since her arrest in November, however on Tuesday, was slapped with more than 100 new charges, after an extensive investigation by Lake Illawarra Technology Crime Unit’s Strike Force Gardyne.

On Monday, officers executed a second search warrant on her Central Road home at Unanderra, where they allegedly seized a large number of bank cards in various names, blank driver licenses, drugs, mobile phones, computers and a motorbike reported stolen in May 2019.

In court documents, police allege Killin used the identification of multiple people across the state to obtain personal loans, fuel cards and mobile devices without their permission.

On several occasions between 2018 and 2019, police allege Killin used several people’s identities to apply for fast loans of between $350 and up to $7000 through companies such as Latitude, Cigno and GoodToGoLoans.

She is also accused of creating false legal documents, like pay slips and bank statements to buy mobile phones through companies like Optus, Telstra and Vodafone. On one occasion last year, police allege in court documents that Killin purchased three Apple iPhone X’s and one iPhone 8 plus on a 24-month plan totalling $11,436 from Telstra using someone else’s identification.

In another bizarre allegation, police say Killin possessed instructions for the manufacture of methamphetamine or ‘ice’, allegedly finding the book ‘Secrets of Methamphetamine Manufacture – 7th Edition’ at her home during the latest search.

Police will also allege they found equipment used to make identification at her Unanderra home.

While she has entered guilty pleas to the original 14 charges, Killin is yet to enter any pleas to the additional 106 charges.

She will return to court later this month.
