A young Illawarra man accused of grooming what he believed was a 14-year-old girl online, and allegedly sending her slam poetry about sexual intercourse with Disney characters has been granted strict bail.
Noah Rzeminski fainted as he was arrested on Friday, after investigations allegedly revealed he’d been talking to police posing as a 14-year-old girl in an online chatroom, a court heard.
Rzeminski, who this month turned 24, was charged with using a carriage service to groom a child under 16 for sex, after police allege he requested intimate photos of the “girl” and trying to arrange to meet up to “cuddle and kiss”.
The 24-year-old faced Wollongong Local Court from a cell at Wollongong Police Station on Friday, where Magistrate Michael O’Brien granted strict bail, including that he only access a computer for work purposes and stay off social media.
In documents tendered to the court, police allege Rzeminski first came under the notice of police from the Child Exploitation internet Unit in April, when he initiated a conversation with the 14-year-old girl using the screen name “MrSygonist”.
The conversation quickly moved to another social media platform, where police allege Rzeminski used the name “Alex Anderson”.
During the conversation, documents stated the girl said she was 14, and asked if it was “okay to keep talking”, to which Rzeminski allegedly responded “as long as you behave yourself”.
Police allege he then requested a photo and upon receipt said “wow you are super cute”, before saying “I wish I could see more of you or hang out with you, if there wasn’t such a big gap to make you uncomfortable I’d suggest a date”.
In the documents police allege Rzeminski then asked about her sexual experience and requested a picture of her “bum or boobs” saying “you are so pretty I want to see every angle of you if I can.”
Police allege that on April 17, Rzeminski sent pictures of himself to the girl, before asking if she could skip school the following day so they could “cuddle, kiss, touch your breast, between your legs, grab your bum”.
In a later conversation it was alleged Rzeminski asked the girl to read a slam poetry verse called “Ursula”, which police claim was about having sex with a Disney character.
Police arrested Rzeminski at his parents’ home in Fairy Meadow, with the 24-year-old fainting and falling to the ground.
On Friday the court heard Rzeminski currently worked in a warehouse and was studying warehouse logistics. His lawyer Stuart Holt also told Magistrate O’Brien his client suffered from anxiety and depression, and was willing to abide by any conditions if he were to be released.
While police prosecutor Sergeant Richard Novatin raised concerns over the ability to enforce social media and computer ban, Magistrate O’Brien granted bail.
He will return to court in June.
