Myuna Way, Mangerton stabbing: Woman arrested after man stabbed in the chest

A Mangerton street was the scene of a dramatic incident on Tuesday afternoon, after a man was stabbed and an armed woman arrested following an intense stand-off with police.

A woman has been arrested following an intense stand-off with police this afternoon, after a man was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to the chest.

Police were called to Myuna Way, Mangerton around 4.30pm, following reports a 45-year-old man had been stabbed in the chest.

Police located the man in the driveway to a unit block upon arrival, and he was rushed to Wollongong Hospital for treatment.

A woman armed with a knife and metal pole barricaded herself inside one of the units as police tried to negotiate with her.

Police forced their way into the balcony just after 5pm, throwing the knife and bar from the balcony as the woman screamed.

She was arrested and escorted into the back of the police van and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

Police allege the woman stabbed the man, understood to be her partner, inside the apartment before emergency services were called.

Police swarmed Myuna Way following the incident, declaring the unit a crime scene. The man’s bloody clothes could be seen on a driveway to a neighbouring unit, which police also declared a crime scene.
