Motorcyclist dead in two-vehicle Barrack Heights crash

Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash near Shellharbour Hospital. Despite the efforts of paramedics a motorcyclist died at the scene.

Police are investigating what led to a fatal crash in Barrack Heights on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene before 6am following reports a motorcycle and grey sedan had crashed at the corner of Madigan Boulevard and Lake Entrance Rd near Shellharbour Hospital.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics; however, he could not be revived.

Police attending from Lake Illawarra Command cordoned off the streets surrounding the scene with motorists asked to check Live Traffic NSW before driving through the area.

The driver of the grey sedan – a 61-year-old woman – was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A NSW Police spokesperson said there were only two vehicles involved in the crash.

Officers in attendance from Lake Illawarra Command established an ongoing crime scene which is being forensically examined by specialist police.
