Milan Milicic charged with possessing child abuse material at Wollongong

A man was allegedly caught with child abuse material after police were called to Wollongong Harbour following reports a child was being filmed.

A man was allegedly caught with child abuse material after police were called to Wollongong Harbour following reports a child was being filmed.

About 3.15pm on Saturday police were called to the corner of Marine Drive and Crown St, Wollongong, following reports 66-year-old Milan Milicic was allegedly filming a child at Wollongong Harbour.

According to police, officers attended and seized the Milicic’s phone for forensic examination and issued him with a move on direction.

Following inquiries, about 5.30pm on Sunday, police attended a home in Smith St, Wollongong where they seized an iPad, laptop and mobile phone.

A 66-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with possessing child abuse material.

Milicic was refused bail by police before fronting Wollongong Local Court on Monday from custody.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Claire Girotto who granted him bail on the condition he report daily to Wollongong Police Station.

Ms Girotto also ordered he not go within 100m of schools, parks or beaches, only use one phone and allow police to access his internet service history.

Milicic will return to court in October.
