A south Sydney man accused of raping a woman he met on Tinder has been granted bail, with a magistrate banning him from all online dating sites.

Lochlan Campbell-Buck, a Dolls Point father of one, was granted bail at Wollongong Local Court on Monday, after he was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent, sexually touching a person without consent and intentionally choking a person without consent.

Mr Campbell-Buck, 24, who works as a COVID cleaner for the NSW Government is accused of committing “extremely serious and disturbing” nonconsensual sex acts on a woman he met on Tinder.

In documents tendered to the court, police allege when the pair met online, Mr Campbell-Buck was the first to strike up the conversation, and that “from the outset the accused has wanted sex from her.”

Mr Campbell-Buck’s alleged advances were refused by the victim, however, they met up some weeks later in the Illawarra. During one of their meetings, the woman claimed Mr Campbell-Buck “forced” her to perform oral sex, while he allegedly digitally raped her.

After another meeting shortly after, the woman told police she had recently undergone surgery and was on heavy medication.

According to the documents, she told police she woke up in her bed to allegedly find Mr Campbell-Buck performing sex acts with her feet, a sexual fetish he’d allegedly told her about in their past conversations.

In one of the most shocking allegations, the woman claimed “consensual sex became non-existent”.

She told police Mr Campbell-Buck would ignore her pleas of “no” or “stop”.

The court also heard he was accused of choking her following an argument, to the point she “blacked out” for an unknown period of time.

In arguing against bail, police prosecutor Sergeant Sean Thackray told the court the woman’s claims were verified by messages Mr Campbell-Buck had sent her.

In court documents, police allege Mr Campbell-Buck sent the woman a message after one of their alleged encounters saying: “I’m sorry I forced sex on you, I’m sorry I keep hurting you … I’m sorry I promise I’ll stop.”

In another text he allegedly acknowledged the sex was nonconseneual, the court heard, with a text message from him to the woman allegedly stating “I need to know, I always appreciate sex even if its forced.”

Despite Sergeant Thackray strongly arguing against bail due to the “risk” Mr Campbell-Buck posed to the alleged victim and the community, Magistrate Claire Girotto granted bail, saying the risks he posed could be mitigated.

She ordered he delete all online dating accounts and banned him from using them, as well as ordering he regularly report to police, and that his parents pay a $500 bail surety.

The matter will return to court in May.
