The Illawarra is set to have a new swish waterfront hotel with IHG Hotels & Resorts unveiling renders of the luxury complex at the soon-to-be Shell Cove Harbour.
The 181-room hotel, dubbed Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina, will feature an “open and inviting” interior with a cafe, a “chic” restaurant and bar as well as meeting and event space and an outdoor pool.
Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marine, which will be located at 10 Waterfront Pd, is scheduled to open in 2025, joining IHG’s extensive portfolio of more than 100 hotels and resorts throughout Australasia which includes hotels in Darling Harbour, Coogee Beach and the Melbourne CBD.
Matt Tripolone, the managing director of IHG Australasia & Pacific, said the hotel will be targeted toward the corporate sector as well as holiday-makers looking for a South Coast retreat.
“We’re thrilled to be extending our reach across regional NSW with the addition of this stylish, design-forward hotel on the NSW South Coast, highlighting the increasing demand for contemporary new hotels in regional NSW,” Mr Tripolone said.
“With an ideal position close to Wollongong and major industry and education hubs, Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina will be a popular option for corporate travellers and meeting and event guests.
“It will feature all the hallmarks business travellers want from a hotel - great connectivity in order to get work done during the day while also being a place that offers the chance for travellers to unwind with a drink at the bar at the end of the day.
“Leisure travellers will also undoubtedly enjoy the prime coastal location and wonderful leisure amenity.”
Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina will be operated by IHG in partnership with Oscars Group, with the pair combining to manage Brisbane’s Holiday Inn Warwick Farm.
Oscars Group CEO Damian Cameron revealed he was excited to be testing the waters of the South Coast Market.
“We are passionate about the South Coast of NSW,” he said.
“We are excited to be growing our presence in the region, particularly as development plans for Shell Cove and the Marina take hold.
“We look forward to working with the local community and welcoming guests to this stunning new hotel in 2025.”
Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina has passed through the development approval stage.
