The fiancee of a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash at Mount Ousley has paid tribute to the father of 11.

Katie Powell said her partner Hayden Errol Frank Selby, 31, was a selfless “protector” who would go above and beyond for the people in his life.

The Whalan couple were preparing to move to the Illawarra this weekend before Hayden died when his motorcycle collided with the vehicle of a friend.

It is understood the friend was driving a Toyota SUV and box trailer behind Hayden as he helped direct her to his new home at the time of the accident on July 19.

Ms Powell said Hayden has left behind 11 children and two grandchildren, as well as an entire community who considered him one of their own.

“Hayden was a protector to everyone he cared for. He was my rock and my 11 children’s hero,” Ms Powell said.

“We met in 2014 through mutual friends and we have been inseparable ever since, I found my soulmate the day I met him.”

“We have struggled through the years but he always prioritised our children and he was our rock, not just mine, for all of our family he was our protector, our everything.

“He always opened his heart and arms and home to almost anyone in need.”

Ms Powell said the family was still coming to terms with how life would be without him as the breadwinner of the household.

“He always did his best to give us everything,” she said.

“I never had to worry about much he just handled it, I’d tell him the problem and he would just randomly tell me it had been fixed.

“It was the same with everyone in his life, he highly neglected himself for everyone he cared about.”

Ms Powell created a fundraising campaign in the wake of Hayden’s passing to cover funeral costs and the road ahead.

“This beautiful man was always the first to jump the second anyone needed help he fought struggled and battled to give my children and I what we have made together,” the campaign read.

“I just don’t know how to do this I’m a newly single mother and the man that took damn good care of all the important things in our lives is gone.

“Any money I have left on the weekly after paying our bills goes entirely on food for our children.

“I just want to give him what he deserves please help me spoil the love of my life and father to my children one last time.”

At time of publication, $2690 has been raised from the fundraising page.

The victim’s friend Kirsten Anthony was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

The Queensland woman was granted bail on Saturday with Registrar Angela Wilson describing the situation as “very tragic circumstances”.

Anthony will return to court later this month.
